ABOUT THE CITY OF DARWIN
The WIN Conference is being held in the thriving and modern city of Darwin, sitting on the far northern coastline overlooking the Timor Sea. Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory in Australia. Close to Asia, it is an important Australian city gateway to countries such as Indonesia and East Timor. For thousands of years, the Aboriginal Traditional Custodians of Darwin, the Larrakia Nation have lived on and maintained their cultural ties to this thriving, vibrant, multicultural city of more than 120,000 people. Though it is the smallest of Australian capital cities, it is the largest and most populated city in the sparsely populated Northern Territory. Darwin has a tropical savannah climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. It will be the dry season, warm sunny days with average temperatures of 32°C (90°F) during the WIN Conference dates of 26 to 31 May 2013.
